Platform Architecture
The project site is located in a highly regulated with a steep slope to the west and a large railroad easement to the east. In response to these challenges, the concrete base and adjust to hold the required distance down the slope, and the house that is within the buffer extends enza mobilya over the slope to access the water view. This method of expanding volumes and elements over others is carried throughout the project by establishing a simple partition enza mobilya rectangular volumes stacked two towering over the site. The second volume is rotated about the axis of the linear volume first floor, creating a covered entrance a staircase, access to a rooftop garden, focusing the bedroom, bathroom and office enza mobilya to the views of the Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
Mass and fenestration are reported by the high activity of the train to the east. The linear scheme allows the wall this acts as a barrier to acoustically isolate the interior of the house and yard west. While the west facade is largely glazed to allow views of water and mountains, the east wall has few openings to maintain the necessary strength in terms of protection against noise.
Access to the house is along a walkway enza mobilya that rises above a sunken garden. This garden space and accessible green roof were important for customers who want a transition to the mainland after living on a boat for 14 years.
A minimalist palette of finish materials used inexpensive to achieve enza mobilya greater economy. For example, a cement fiberboard low cost is used for most exterior surfaces, accented by cedar smaller area. This roughness is balanced with fiber cement board smooth to achieve both harmony and economy. Extensive glazing is wanted on the west facade. Instead of installing a curtain wall system expensive aluminum windows, less expensive, are coupled together and trimmed to break aluminum to achieve a similar effect for a reduced cost.
